Technology-driven taxpayer services and simplified tax laws will strengthen voluntary compliance,”-Dr. Sibichen K. Mathew, DG, NADT
“PRARAMBH–2026”, an outreach and awareness programme has been organised by the Income Tax Department on the provisions of the Income Tax Act, 2025 and the Income-tax Rules, 2026 at Chitnavis Centre, Civil Lines, Nagpur on 14 May 2026. The campaign’s aim is to ease tax compliance and familiarise taxpayers with the new law.
In Bengaluru, the Karnataka and Goa Region conducted the programme at Kaveri Hall, C.R. Building, under the leadership of Vidisha Kalra, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax.
The chief guest at the event was Renowned tennis player Rohan Bopanna. Senior officials specified various aspects of the new Act, along with provisions of TDS, exemptions, judicial matters, and digital taxpayer services.
Vidisha Kalra addresses the event by citing that the Income Tax Act, 2025, has the motive to build a more transparent and taxpayer-centric administration system. She specified that the new legislation has been formed in an easier framework to lessen intricacy and motivate voluntary compliance while assuring continuous support to taxpayers during the time of transition phase.
The Bengaluru programme illustrated various digital initiatives of the Department, along with the AI-powered “Kar Saathi” chatbot, the “Kar Setu” guidance manual explaining links between the 1961 and 2025 Acts, and taxpayer interaction initiatives like the “Samvaad” programme. Officials illustrated that the objective of the reforms is to ease tax laws, rationalise sections and forms, and enhance taxpayer facilities after the new Act came into force from April 1, 2026.
The Nagpur unit of the Income Tax Department, in the meantime, had organised a similar outreach programme at Chitnavis Centre, Civil Lines, Nagpur. Dr Sibichen K. Mathew, Director General of the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), attended as the chief guest and outlined that technology-driven taxpayer services and simplified tax laws shall make the voluntary compliance stronger.
