IT Department Conducts PRARAMBH-2026 Outreach Drives in Pune and Thane

Under the nationwide PRARAMBH-2026 initiative, the Income Tax Department has conducted a series of taxpayer outreach programmes across Pune, Thane, and Kalyan to create awareness about the newly introduced Income Tax Act, 2025.

Under the Principal Commissioners of Income Tax for the Pune and Thane regions, the awareness initiative was conducted. Taxpayers, salaried employees, Chartered Accountants, tax professionals, trade bodies, cooperative banks, and industry representatives have participated in the programmes.

On May 20, 2026, a special session for salaried government employees was conducted at GST Bhavan, Yerawada, Pune. The programme was attended by more than 100 officers and officials from the Maharashtra State GST Department. Officials specify crucial aspects of the income tax return filing, deductions, exemptions, taxpayer services, and the upgraded Income Tax portal.

At PMT Building, Swargate, Pune, another outreach programme was conducted. It aims at the provisions of the Jurisdictional Assessment Unit. The session has been attended by taxpayers and representatives from Chartered Accountants’ associations and trade organisations, and they appreciated the Department’s taxpayer awareness efforts.

The Income Tax Department in Pimpri-Chinchwad conducted a programme at ICAI Bhawan, Nigdi, where departmental officers represented major provisions of the new Income-tax Act, 2025. Chartered Accountant Rishi Lodha shared practical insights for the implementation-related challenges and compliance requirements.

In Thane, a major awareness programme was organised at Aditya Banquet Hall, Ashar IT Park, where more than 350 participants attended the event. The programme witnessed participation from members of the Thane Chamber of Commerce, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI), jewellers’ associations, cooperative banks, and tax practitioners.

Officials specify various features of the new law, along with the introduction of the “Tax Year” concept, revised return filing procedures, TDS/TCS provisions, tax audit requirements, transitional rules, and simplification measures rolled out under the new legislation.

Another session was conducted at B.K. Birla College, Kalyan, where more than 100 taxpayers and professionals from sectors such as warehousing, jewellery, and pharmaceuticals took part.

Also, the department illustrated several taxpayer facilitation initiatives rolled out under PRARAMBH-2026, including “Kar Saathi,” an AI-enabled chatbot, “Kar Setu,” a guidance and reference platform, and “Samvaad,” interactive learning sessions for promoting voluntary compliance.

As per the income tax department, such programmes come under its objective to develop a streamlined, transparent, technology-driven, and taxpayer-friendly tax administration system under the new Income-tax Act, 2025.
